Black Coral Care

Gem-quality black coral is an organic medium that has been highly polished to produce a brilliant luster. Natural grain lines and iridescent coloration add to the beauty and preciousness of the coral and complement this luster. At times, you may see these colors and grain lines begin to surface or become more prominent in the coral. This is a natural occurrence that adds to the uniqueness of your piece.

We recommend that you avoid exposing your coral to harsh chemicals such as cleaning agents, steam cleaners, hot tubs/spas and hard water that contains chlorine.Remove your jewelry if you are going to be using household cleaners or engaging in activities that might damage your piece.

Climate can also affect black coral. If you go from a very humid climate to a dry climate the coral may shrink slightly. The reverse is true if go from a dry climate to a humid one. This is a natural condition of the coral. In the rare case the coral rises above the setting it can be polished down or adjusted to fit securely.

Maintain and clean your black coral piece by simply polishing the coral with a clean, soft cloth and by using a very soft toothbrush and small amounts of water to clean diamonds. If you use a jewelry cleaning solution, make sure it is safe for pearls. Never soak your black coral jewelry. Always be sure to dry your black coral piece after exposing it to any water. Also, coral should be stored carefully and separately from your other jewelry items to avoid scratches.

Passman black coral jewelry has been designed to be worn everyday and with the proper care and maintenance can be enjoyed for a lifetime.
